Hanover Township is located in Morris County, NJ. The community has a total area of 10.8 square miles and has approximately 5,000 housing units. Whippany and Cedar Knolls are sections of Hanover Township. Whippany has a land area of 6.9 square miles. Cedar Knolls has a land area of 3.9 square miles. There are wonderful neighborhoods in each community. Hanover Township is well-known in the region for having low property taxes. Most of the homes and neighborhoods in the community were constructed starting in the 1950s. Today, there is very little open land left to develop. As a result, it is common for builders and other speculators to purchase small ranch and cape homes to knock-down and replace with high-end new construction. Some of the housing developments and neighborhoods include: Birch Hill, Countrywood, Trail Wood, Forest Hill, Orchard Acres, Academy Estates, Heritage Woods, Matthew Estates, Bee Meadow, Adela Estates, River Park Estates, Boulevard Estates, Sterling Woods, Cedar Knolls Estates, Windmere at Hanover, and Hanover Park Estates.
Hanover's highway access is excellent, which makes it a desirable community to live in. The community is located close to Interstate 287 which runs north-south through Morris County and provides an easy connection to the major east-west routes including Interstate 80, 280, and NJ Route 24. Newark International Airport is a mere 30 minutes away. The train station in Morristown is located close by.
Hanover public schools include: Bee Meadow (K-5), Salem Drive (K-5), Mountview Road (K-5), Memorial Junior (6-8), and Whippany Park Regional High School (9-12).
Hanover Township boasts many superb public attractions including the Whippany Railway Museum, the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, and the Morris County Library. Patriot's Path, a 26-mile-long wilderness walkway and bike trail, also pass through the Township along the Whippany River. Hanover Township contains many municipal parks and recreational facilities including Bee Meadow Park and Pool, Black Brook Park, Central Park, Malapardis Park, Monroe Center and Park, and the Township Community Center.
There is an amazing amount of nearby shopping for residents. From big chain stores in Parsippany and East Hanover, to small shops and boutiques in Morris Plains and Morristown, everything you need is just a short drive away. The Rockaway Townsquare and Short Hills Malls are about 15 minutes away.
